Pekalen Bawah river deserve to be called as the river of history. There are 2 legends grow in the area. The first story is the journey of The Prabu Hayam Wuruk and Mahapatih Gajah Mada who visited some exotic places on the island of Java. Among them are Madakaripura waterfall, and some areas in Probolinggo such as Tongas, Baremi (now Bremi), Binor, Jabung, Pajarakan, Ketompen (in the area Pajarakan), Sagara (Segaran in Tiris), Gending, borang, etc. And Pekalen river is one of Mahapatih Gajah Mada’s favorite place, one of which is the start point Songa allegedly as a place to bathe. The second legend is the story of Queen Dewi Rengganis ever stop and build a palace at the river side before running away to Mount Argopuro.
Meanwhile, rafting rapids in Pekalen Bawah river full with meaning. Telling one's life journey began to children, adults, until old age. Childhood represented a welcome rapids, the pillar- pilihan agak rumit (rather complicated optional). Adulthood was represented by, S1, S2, and Jeram celah (Alley) rapids, old age represented by the bulu ayam/Marlboro and Angel rapids.
